Emily Lochore has run the Burnham Market Eventing Centre, home to the Burnham Market International Horse Trials, with her husband Alec since 1995. The facility, which provides expert training for horse and rider, also offers luxury B&B accommodation at The White House www.stayatthewhitehouse.co.uk
Q. What are you looking forward to at this year’s Houghton?
A. I am always excited to see what Alec Lochore the course designer has in store for the international competitors on the cross country. The course is always attacking and flowing which gives the horses a great experience with just enough questions to keep the riders thinking. With so many competitors from all over world it has a truly international feel.
Q. What makes Houghton a special event for you?
A. The grounds are absolutely stunning, especially at this time of year when the trees are coming into leaf. It is a real privilege to spend the whole week resident in the park.
Q. How is the 2019 season going so far?
A. At the moment I only have young horses to compete who are not yet qualified for this level, so I will be looking upon the other competitors with a certain amount of jealousy as I just love riding around this course. Hopefully in 2020 we will be back.
Q. What are your eventing essentials from Nags?
A. Nags Essentials has been my main supplier and supporter for many years. They have everything that both pros and amateurs alike could ever need for their horsey activities.
The Saracen Horse Feeds Houghton International Horse Trials runs from 23-26 May at Houghton Hall PE31 6UE
